Elon Musk wants to make Twitter available to most Americans
The richest billionaire in the world Elon Musk wants Twitter “cover” as broad as possible.
Tesla CEO, Elon Musk said on Tuesday that he wants to expand Twitter’s reach beyond its current “niche” until most Americans use the social media platform, CNA reported.
Elon Musk signed a deal to buy Twitter for $44 billion, raising questions among employees and the public about his strategy to run the social network.
He told reporters at the Met Gala in New York that a key measure of success was whether Twitter was able to expand its user base significantly.
“Right now, it’s a niche market. I want to increase the percentage of users that are on it and participate in the conversation,” billionaire Elon Musk said.
Twitter now has about 40 million daily active users in the US, according to its most recent earnings report. Elon Musk said he wants the platform “to cover as widely as possible, ideally most Americans are there and talking to each other,” and to be as trustworthy as possible.
The billionaire also said he will be transparent to Twitter about how tweets are promoted or demoted, and wants the app’s software to be widely available.
When asked about Twitter employee turnover, CEO of Tesla “This is a free country. If anyone doesn’t feel comfortable, they’re free to go elsewhere. That’s a good thing,” he said.
