Free training of digital human resources for the West

8,500 corporate employees, students, small traders, farmers… in the West will receive free training on digital transformation and e-commerce skills in 2022.

This is the content of the program “Mekong Innovation Initiative” announced by the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Can Tho on April 5.

Accordingly, this year a free training program for 500 students in the Mekong Delta on digital transformation and e-commerce skills; providing free cloud computing and data center services for 1,000 innovative and start-up small and medium-sized businesses.

At the same time, the program supports 500 free overseas business information lookup service packages to serve export and trade cooperation activities, builds 500 free websites for people and businesses to introduce, promote Mekong products on digital platforms.

The program also sponsors 5,000 information technology scholarships for students and employees; Free training on digital transformation and selling on social networks, online channels for 3000 farmers and small traders.

800 businesses are also supported with consulting and funding to improve innovation capacity, digital transformation, intellectual property registration, technology transfer, e-commerce application, development investment. international markets…

Speaking at the announcement, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong said that Vietnam’s labor force is mainly in the low-skilled group with the rate of more than 40%. Only about 10% of the workforce is highly skilled, compared with more than 20% in Malaysia, the Philippines and more than 50% in Singapore.

Meanwhile, adapting the skills of digital transformation and automation requires a large number of highly skilled workers. Therefore, training and improving skills for developing digital human resources need to be implemented methodically and continuously.

According to Mr. Dong, the West occupies 12% of the area, 19% of the population of the country, is the largest agricultural production area in Vietnam, has a favorable position in trade with ASEAN countries and the Mekong sub-region. Therefore, the development of digital human resources is one of the core factors for the delta to develop sustainably…
