Roger doesn’t have Conqueror Haki, the battle with Kaido is about to be won or lost
The title of One Piece chapter 1047 roughly translates to “Sky of the City”.
The chapter begins with a view of the sky around Onigamshima. In the distance, the smoke from the fire and the collision on the rock was still rising into the air, and the rock was still falling continuously. Momonosuke is now hovering outside the island and trying to save it from falling.
Yamato shouted: “Make a flame cloud! You can do it, Momo!”. Still, Momonosuke remained helpless, as he began to recall the time right before he and his retainers teleported into the future.
Twenty years ago, before the fire could consume the castle, Toki asked Momonosuke and his retainers to go to the future in search of a chance to rebuild the Kozuki clan. However, Momonosuke was still shocked at what had happened and wanted Toki and his sister to go with him.
This caused Kinemon to suffer. He said: “A lady has shown her resolve while a man still hesitates! My lord, it is a shame no different from being humiliated in front of the people!”.
In the end, Kinemon convinced Momonosuke to agree to go with him. Momonosuke’s last memory of his mother is of her crying silently. That made him more determined and rushed towards the island to find a way to stop it from moving towards the Chinese capital.
Returning to the sky above the roof of Onigashima, the battle between Kaido and Luffy is still going on extremely fierce. Through his new ability, Luffy was able to control lightning from the sky and use it to throw it at Kaido, but he dodged and returned the blow with mace that flattened Luffy’s body.
Kaido: So you can grab lightning, how absurd is that? Worororo…
Luffy: Gomu gomu no Thunder.
Kaido considers Luffy’s ability to be quite good, but it is not something used to rule the world. Kaido takes as an example Roger, a person who, even without any demonic powers, can still do great things. He then concludes that only Haki is above all.

While being thrown into the sky, Luffy’s hand was still long enough to grab Kaido tightly. He tried to use his weapon to cut off Luffy’s hand.

After trying to use a mace to dislodge Luffy’s hand but failed, Kaido transformed into his dragon form and fired a series of wind blades at Luffy’s position hiding among the clouds in the sky. Despite trying to dodge most of it, a few blades still scratched Luffy’s leg, causing him to bleed.
The scene changed to the capital Hana where the party was coming to an end. Toko and everyone in the capital are releasing paper boats into the sky (similar to Khong Minh lanterns) in the hope that it will reach the dead. The sound of the festival resounded beyond the borders of Wano, far away, Onigashima was still moving slowly towards the capital in the dark clouds.
The battle between Luffy and Kaido is still going on. Luffy is still hiding in the clouds and tries to grab Kaido. He was hit by a Bolo Breath and was completely burned black.
Kaido: Let go and get down here right now!
The scene shifts to the inside of Onigashima castle. Everything was ruined after being consumed by a fire. Kaido’s strength was so weakened that the Samurai could feel the whole island falling.
Hyogoro: Boys, choose! Either the Straw Hats win and we die from falling, or we live and it means victory belongs to Kaido!!
The whole group of Samurai said in unison: You must ask something more difficult!!! If we win, our family will have a happy future!
They gathered together, raising their swords to support Luffy’s victory, while the remnants of the Beasts Pirates showed great confusion.
The scene changed to Usopp, he was trying to run away to find a way out when a stream of water rushed in and swept him away.
Change the scene to Hyori. The flames burned Orochi’s entire body, but he wasn’t dead yet. It looks like a part of his flesh has peeled off causing the sea stone nail to fall off. Orochi transformed back into the Eight Ky Great Serpent form, but he had only one head left. Perhaps knowing he was about to die, he approached Hyori and wanted her to bury him with him.
Orochi: I wish you were seeing this, Oden! I will bring your daughter with me!
Transition to the sky over Onigashima island. While still helpless in front of the island, Momo suddenly heard Luffy calling her.
Luffy: I’ll end all of this, but Onigashima needs to get out of the way! Momo, I trust you!
At this moment, Luffy is hovering above Kaido’s head with a fist the size of Onigashima covered in black, with lightning shooting around.
The story ends with Kaido looking very serious. Apparently, Luffy is about to punch through the whole island if Momo doesn’t move it in time.
