McLaren supercar officially set foot in Vietnam

McLaren, the British supercar brand, has chosen Vietnam as the 41st genuine distribution market globally when it has witnessed the Vietnamese giants buy McLaren more than Lamborghini and Ferrari.

According to the latest announcement, the British supercar company said it will officially distribute McLaren in Vietnam from the second quarter of 2022.

Thus, McLaren is the third high-performance supercar brand to officially set up dealers in Vietnam, after Ferrari (October 2019), and Lamborghini (May 2014).

The British supercar company considers Vietnam to be one of the important markets in Asia, the 41st base according to the list of global distribution markets. In Southeast Asia, McLaren currently has dealerships in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

In fact, in the past 3 years, the number of McLaren supercars pouring into Vietnam has increased rapidly. It is estimated that up to now, there have been about 31 imported McLaren supercars, of which the model McLaren 720S account for more than half. All these vehicles are imported by private companies from markets such as the US, Germany, Thailand…

The first McLaren 720S returned to Vietnam at the end of 2017, but it wasn’t until 2019 and 2020, that the Vietnamese giants’ 720S playing movement blossomed. A 720S made a journey through Southeast Asia in September 2019 and was driven by two famous names in the supercar industry: Cuong “dollar” and Hua Ha Phuong (leader of the CarPassion Club delegation).

The British supercar brand is associated with many “face-to-face” names in the gaming industry Vietnamese supercar. This supercar is valued at about VND 50 billion. in Vietnam and was purchased from a supercar dealer in the US. When returning to Vietnam, the car carried the Cambodian license plate.

McLaren is a supercar brand with a young British history. Started as New Zealand designer, driver, engineer and racer Bruce McLaren. He founded Bruce McLaren Motor Racing (BMR) in 1963 to participate in F1 racing in 1966. However, in 1970, while testing the McLaren M8D at Goodwood racecourse, England, he had an accident and passed life.

BMR was later acquired by Ron Dennis, a mechanic specializing in building racing teams. Dennis founded the McLaren Group and McLaren Cars was born in 1985.
