The billion-dollar school was abandoned because parents criticized ‘poor’ teachers

Over the past 5 years, the primary school in Rao Truong village, Vinh Ha commune, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province has been abandoned. This school is quite spacious, but due to lack of protection, some glass doors are broken and many termites and termites appear.

Here, there are 3 classrooms with a total investment of 1.6 billion VND built in early 2016 on the most beautiful, flat, and wide land in Rao Truong village.

At the beginning of 2017, the project was completed, the investor is Vinh Linh District Construction Investment Project Management Board, and handed it over to Vinh Ha Commune People’s Committee, Vinh Ha Elementary School for Ethnic Minorities for management and use.

Principal of Vinh Ha Ethnic Minority Semi-Boarding School – Mr. Phan Thanh Minh said that from 2012 to 2016, Rao Truong village had about 35 students each year.

Because there is no school, teachers have to borrow the room of the Youth Village Management Board to set up a business in the West of Vinh Linh to teach, difficult conditions.

After that, Vinh Linh District Construction Investment Project Management Board built a school site in Rao Truong village with the hope that students would have a better place to study.

However, since the school was completed, although it is spacious and clean, most parents do not allow their children to attend but find ways to transfer to other schools.

Mr. Minh said that, in the 2017-2018 school year, the school and Vinh Ha Commune People’s Committee have mobilized parents to send their children to Rao Truong school. But parents objected because they criticized the poor quality of teachers.

“When there is no new school, and they still have to borrow a room to study, parents have no idea, even though the number of teachers from Van Kieu and Kinh people is the same”, Mr. Minh shared.

In fact, in the past 5 years, parents in Rao Truong village only let their children finish preschool. When they finish preschool, they will transfer their children to register in neighboring localities to attend primary school.

With no students, the school returned the points of Rao Truong school to the Commune People’s Committee for management.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thao – Chairman of Vinh Ha Commune People’s Committee said that Rao Truong village has 135 households/453 people, currently has 49 primary school students.

Facing the situation of Rao Truong school site being abandoned and wasted, the locality has proposed to the district People’s Committee, relevant agencies, the school to improve the quality of teachers so that parents can trust and let their children study to put the school into operation. .
