The Department of Medical Examination and Treatment (Ministry of Health) on March 21 issued an urgent dispatch to the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City on verifying information about a female patient who died during breast augmentation surgery at 1A Hospital.

The Department requests the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City to urgently verify and clarify information, reflect and take measures to handle violations in accordance with the law (if any). Promptly report to the Ministry of Health and publicize the verification results on the mass media.

The Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City is required to continue to strengthen inspection, inspection and legal propaganda for medical examination and treatment facilities to strictly observe medical examination and treatment in accordance with regulations.

Previously, on March 18, 1A Hospital received a 33-year-old female NTNN, residing in Ward 11, District 6, Ho Chi Minh City in a state of breast hypoplasia (small breasts) on both sides. Patients who require breast augmentation surgery are examined and tested preoperatively according to hospital procedures. The treatment method is breast augmentation surgery with gel bags; Anesthesia method is endotracheal anesthesia.

The surgeon is Nguyen Van Thiet, who has a practicing certificate issued by the Ministry of Health to supplement the scope of medical examination and treatment specializing in plastic surgery. Anesthesiologist and resuscitation doctor is Vo Van Tuan, who has a medical practice certificate specializing in anesthesiology and resuscitation.

Also according to the report of 1A Hospital, the patient suffered from respiratory arrest during the surgery, was managed by intensive resuscitation according to the correct procedure, but later died.
