On the afternoon of March 21 in Hanoi, the General Department of Physical Education SportVietnam Golf Association, Tien Phong newspaper and Hai Phong City People’s Committee held a press conference to announce the National Golf Championship (National Championship) – VinFast Cup 2022. More importantly, this is the first time the national championship has been professionally organized for Vietnamese athletes. 120 male athletes and 40 female athletes will compete in 4 rounds in Hai Phong city. The par 72 standard 18 hole golf course has a unique design with high difficulty from natural swampy terrain.

To ensure professional quality, the maximum handicap limit (also known as Handicap, a scoring term used to assess a golfer’s ability) for amateur players is 6.0 for men and 10.0 for amateurs. female.

The event is divided into 2 competitive tables. 1 billion VND is the total prize for the male group and 200 million VND for the female group. According to the statistics of the organizers, the prize fund for the female table is the highest ever. This is a positive signal to promote and develop golf with women.

Over the past 16 years, the National Championship golf tournament has taken steps to expand its scale, improve its professional and organizational quality, and adapt to the development of Vietnam’s golf industry. The most important changes include expanding the scale for foreign athletes to participate in (2008), organizing a women’s tournament (2012) and now bringing the golf championship to professional level in 2022.

With the mission “For a better life for Vietnamese”, the tournament is committed to supporting 100% of the cost of participation for young amateur talents under 18 years old.

This year, the event was held just before the 31st SEA Games, with the right spirit of launching pad for the dream of marking Vietnam on the world map, the national championship will be a rubbing arena for the team members.
