Guardian Reportedly, the Kremlin’s special envoy for relations with international organizations working in the field of sustainable development Anatoly Chubais has resigned. Mr. Chubais is considered a longtime aide of Mr. Putin for many years.

Mr. Chubais is said to be in Turkey. Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov confirmed that Mr. Chubais had resigned. “Yes. Mr. Chubais has resigned. And whether he stays in Russia or not is up to him,” Peskov said.

Bloomberg Citing two sources familiar with the matter, Mr. Chubais resigned apparently because of disagreements about the campaign military of Russia in Ukraine.

Mr. Chubais is not currently an influential figure in the Russian government and has no authority on security-related matters. However, he is a widely known political figure in Russia, having been seen as the “architect” of Russia’s market economy after the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1990s.

Mr. Chubais served as chief of staff to former President Boris Yeltsin. Guardian Chubais said that Mr. Chubais had sent Putin to work in the Kremlin in 1997, a few years before Putin became Russian President.

Mr. Chubais held various roles in the Russian government in the 2000s. He has been Putin’s special envoy on climate change since 2020.
