The Tianwen 1 orbiter took pictures of China’s Zhurong robot on the Tianwen 1 mission and NASA’s Perseverance robot as the two vehicles explored the surrounding terrain. Tianwen 1 took pictures Tianwen 1 took pictures of Perseverance on March 7 when the car-sized robot was about 200 meters southeast of the landing site.

The China National Space Administration (CNSA) on March 24 also shared video photos taken from the Tianwen 1 spacecraft. Among them are the Zhu Rong robot and vehicle wheel tracks when viewed from religious funds. Wheel tracks walk through Chuc Dung’s parachute drop and landing platform, proving that the robot checked some of the hardware that helped it land safely in May 2021. The video also includes a number of photos taken by Chuc Dung on the surface of Mars, most notably two selfies taken in May. 2021 and January 2022 which shows the amount of dust that has accumulated on the robot’s body during its journey. .

The Chuc Dung robot and the Thien Van 1 spacecraft launched together in July 2020 and reached Mars in February 2021. In May 2021, the vehicle separated from the orbiter to land on Mars. To date, Chuc Dung has traveled 1.78 km on the red planet. Both the robot and Tianwen 1 are in good condition and operating normally.

Meanwhile, the Perseverance robot, which specializes in collecting samples and looking for signs of life, has traveled much greater distances since landing in the Jezero crater in February 2021. Instrumentation on NASA’s self-propelled robot recorded a distance of 6.34 km. Perseverance towards an easily accessible area of the ancient river delta nestled within the Jezero crater. The mission team selects a route for Perseverance with the help of Ingenuity, a small helicopter tasked with navigating.

Thien Van 1 isn’t the only spacecraft to photograph Perseverance and Chuc Dung from orbit. NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance spacecraft also photographed the two robots last year.
