Translation instructions on the latest iOS 15

To translate text in images on iOS 15, users first need to enable the Live Text feature. Go to “Settings” => “Camera”, then enable “Live Text”. When needed, point the camera at the text, and then tap the Live Text icon in the lower-right corner.

iPhone will automatically crop the image and offer functions like “Copy”, “Select All”, “Look Up”, and even “Translate”… Users can also copy the translation (Copy Translation) , change the language, or open in the Apple Translate app (see detailed instructions here).

To support translating live conversations, iPhone users access the “Translation” application (Apple Translate), then select the “Conversation” item. The user needs to select the original language and the language waiting for translation; you can also download the language pair you want to use even without the internet.

Before starting the chat, the user taps the 3-dot icon in the bottom right corner of the screen, and then selects “Auto translate”. Now that the user taps on the microphone only once, the translation will display blue text below each sentence recorded by the iPhone (see detailed instructions here).

User can also select any text to translate in apps like Safari, Messages, Mail, supported third party apps etc. Select the text you want to translate, then click Translate (if you don’t see it, click the “…” to see more options).
