Italy supports the nomination of opera as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity

The committee, chaired by Franco Bernabé, confirmed that Italian opera will continue to be a candidate to be submitted to UNESCO’s intergovernmental committee for 2023.

Speaking to the press in Rome, Italy’s Culture Minister Dario Franceschini emphasized that, with the nomination of opera, intangible cultural heritage of humanity, Italy wants to recognize one of the most authentic and original cultural expressions of the “boot-shaped country”.
