Xiaomi recently introduced a new book reader with the full name “Xiaomi Duokan Electronic Paper Book Pro II”. This e-reader model has a large 7.8-inch e-ink screen, the design is quite similar to Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite 5 but with much more powerful hardware.
Paper Book Pro II’s 7.8-inch screen has a resolution of 1872 x 1404, a pixel density of 300 PPI. Xiaomi also integrates a yellow backlight that can be adjusted in 24 levels from green to yellow. Considering the price of just over 4 million VND, this is one of the most impressive hardware monographs. In addition, the device is only 7mm thin and weighs 250g, which is thinner than the Paperwhite 5.
Xiaomi uses a chip codenamed RK3566 to equip this e-reader. This is a 64-bit chip for powerful performance but low power consumption. The device has 2GB RAM and 32GB memory for the standard version. With a powerful processor, Paper Book Pro II significantly improves performance, page turning speed as well as battery life.
Regarding the battery, Paper Book Pro II is equipped with a 3200mAh battery unchanged compared to its predecessor, but the new chip consumes less power, so Xiaomi says the device has twice the battery life, about 6 weeks with only one charge.
Paper Book Pro II runs on a software interface based on Android 11, pre-installed with reading support applications such as Duokan Reading, WeChat Reading, Palm Reading Selection and Jingdong Reading. The machine also supports most popular ebook formats such as EPUB, PDF, TXT, MOBI… even EXCEL, PPT and DOC.
In terms of price, Xiaomi Paper Book Pro II is currently priced at 1199 yuan in the Chinese market, equivalent to about 4.3 million dong.
