Car hits five people in a bakery

DanangThe seven-seater car crashed into a 16-seat car traveling in the same direction and then continued to rush into a bakery on Dien Bien Phu Street, causing five people to crash.

Around 5:45 p.m. on April 3, driver Luong Duy Tan, 42, drove a seven-seat Mitsubishi car into the path above the Dien Bien Phu underpass, Thanh Khe district, and crashed into the back of a 16-seat passenger car.

The Mitsubishi blew its horn, turned on the right turn signal and sped away at a fast speed, when it approached the intersection with Le Do, it crashed straight into Dong Thanh bakery (no. 60A Dien Bien Phu).

According to the bakery’s camera, there were two customers outside the shop at the time. Inside were two women standing at the counter, another woman making raw vegetables and two children playing. Everyone could not react in time, although one person saw the car coming and was about to run out.

The car deployed the airbag, the driver Tan was stuck inside. People around turned over the rubble looking for victims and took them to the emergency room at Danang Hospital.

Doctor Nguyen Thanh Trung, deputy director of Da Nang Hospital, said he had received six patients (including the car driver who caused the accident). “Two children have scratches, four adults have broken bones but not life-threatening,” Mr. Trung said.

At the scene, the Mitsubishi deformed the front end, blowing the left front tire. Many furniture in the bakery was broken. Two bread carts were thrown onto the roadway. A motorcycle parked on the sidewalk was damaged.

Thanh Khe district police blocked about 300 m of Dien Bien Phu street, from the beginning of the road leading to Le Do intersection to examine the scene. Dozens of police were mobilized to regulate traffic, because many people passing through the main artery of the city center stopped to watch the incident.

Colonel Tran Van Tam, Chief of Thanh Khe District Police, said that the driver Luong Duy Tan used alcohol.

At 20:30, the functional forces sealed the car and sent a rescue vehicle to the police headquarters to serve the investigation. The scene is cleared.
