Vivo launched the first folding smartphone

Vivo X Fold phone has a design similar to Samsung Z Fold3, with 120 Hz screen, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip and 66 W fast charging.

Vivo has just announced a smartphone with an inward folding mechanism like most folding phones currently on the market. The outer screen of the device has a size of 6.53 inches using AMOLED panels, while the main inner screen is 8.03 inches with LTPO2 panels. Both support HDR10+ as well as a 120 Hz refresh rate, but the main display can manually adjust the refresh rate from 1 Hz to 120 Hz.

Vivo uses Schott’s UTG ultra-thin glass for the main screen similar to the Galaxy Z Fold3. Another difference of the new product compared to other folding screen models is that the X Fold is equipped with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on both screens instead of a physical sensor located on the power button.

The hinge allows opening at angles from 60 degrees to 120 degrees. Vivo claims the hinge’s durability is up to 300,000 times, much higher than 200,000 on the Galaxy Z Fold3.

In terms of configuration, the device is equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, 12 GB RAM and two versions of 256 GB and 512 GB internal memory. The battery has a capacity of 4,600 mAh with support for 66 W fast charging, allowing to fully charge the battery in 37 minutes. In addition, the product also has 50W fast wireless charging and 10W reverse charging.

The X Fold’s camera is more prominent than the Galaxy Z Fold3’s when it has four rear cameras. In which, the main 50-megapixel camera supports OIS optical stabilization, 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x zoom, 8-megapixel periscope camera with 5x optical zoom and 48-megapixel ultra-wide angle. This camera system is fine-tuned by Zeiss. The device still uses a punch-hole camera for both screens with a resolution of 16 megapixels.

Vivo X Fold will be sold first in the Chinese market for CNY 8,999 (VND 32 million) for the 256 GB version and CNY 9,999 (VND 35 million) for the 512 GB version.
