Apple partners stop production in Shanghai

The city of Shanghai is still going through the longest and strictest blockade since COVID-19 epidemic outbreak. These blockade measures are directly affecting businesses here. The latest, the technology company’s assembly partner Apple in Shanghai was the Pegatron had to stop production.

Pegatron is an iPhone assembler in Shanghai. Pegatron assembles about 20-30% of all iPhones globally. Government blockades that began in late March have threatened to disrupt global supply chains.

Companies like Pegatron have been able to resume production so far because the Chinese government has allowed some manufacturers to operate through a closed system to reduce the risk of infection.

Although Pegatron stopped production in China, Apple shares rose 1% on the morning of April 13, showing that investors are not too concerned about production shutdowns at many of Apple’s major partner factories.
