UEFA proposes to change the Champions League… just like the Super League

Recently, UEFA has released a very remarkable information, that is, they want to once again change the format of the UEFA Champions League. Accordingly, the places to attend UEFA tournaments will depend on the performance of a team in the last 5 seasons competing in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League or UEFA Europa Conference League. To determine this achievement, UEFA will create a separate ranking of the teams, and each team will add or subtract points based on their European performance.

Reacting to this proposal, many fans, and even football experts, believe that UEFA is creating a Super League of their own. This proposal only benefits the big teams, and at the same time makes the teams focus on playing more in the European arena instead of the domestic arena to keep the next season’s participation. The proposal was met with derision from clubs outside the British Big Six. They feel the plan is just a “disguised version” of the Super League.

If approved, this change will be applied from the 2024 season. The final decision will be made by UEFA’s executive committee on May 10.
