Annoying colleagues come to me and the boss’s response

Ever since I was a kid, my parents have told me I’m a very… stubborn kid. It’s not really a negative connotation of just being indifferent, it’s just that once I want to hold on to something, I’m determined to the end. Or chasing dreams too, I’m not the type to give up easily. Of course, I’m aware that sometimes I’m a bit cold to people around me, making it easy for them to think I’m cocky. But deep inside, I’m very kind, sociable, if people don’t do anything, I also treat them kindly.

I graduated with a major in graphic design from the School of Industrial Fine Arts. Now I have a Work pretty good at the consortium in terms of design-related technology. Before, I did not work anywhere even though I graduated 2 years ago. Because I choose to work as a freelancer, I am comfortable with my time and my income is also good. But I have a problem that the hours are not stable.

For example, in the morning I will sleep, but in the evening I have to work hard, even staying up at night is too obvious. I look older than my peers. My parents also reminded me not to be like that, to stick with a stable company instead. From then on, the routine and time also went into more order.

It took me a long time to find a suitable environment to stick with. The starting salary here is 13 million VND, the company also outlines a working schedule, so I am very satisfied and assured. When I joined the company, there was also a female designer. The brothers and sisters often joke that because the company has many men, they hire a female designer to “balance”.

Contrary to my expectations, when I first joined the company, the boss assigned the job a bit overboard and a bit boring. I was used to the difficulty level of design work before, so now sitting down to do simple requests is really a bit… strange. Besides, the company’s design process is clear, I don’t need to use a lot of gray matter, so I got everything done pretty quickly. In my spare time at the company, I secretly do freelance work to earn more money in the field.

Outside of my own work and duties, I don’t care about other people. However, I saw that the other colleague seemed to be bored with the work, not enthusiastic, even sighing. In my heart, I just thought, maybe you have a problem that is not related to work.

The turning point happened when about 2 weeks ago, in the meeting room at the beginning of the week, my boss assigned me a new task, also a new partner, to do it from scratch. I have the right to decide the concept, plan and do it in 2 weeks. While colleagues still have to perform the old tasks. After that meeting, I saw that she became more angry, her face darkened.

At the climax, one day, when your boss criticized your color scheme, you said in a slightly sulky fashion: “Why do you keep forcing me to do things under my ability when entering the company? Why does the boss show a clear bias between me and her (me)?”.

I didn’t say anything, because now if I speak up it’s just like adding fuel to the fire. Fortunately, the boss responded, in a cold tone: “Don’t think you don’t pay attention to the attitude of employees. If you don’t work hard to do boring things, you are not qualified and capable to work bigger.” After the boss finished speaking, my colleague also bowed his head and felt sorry. Currently, a colleague has resigned. My boss said “If you take a break, find a new replacement, what’s wrong?”.

Now that I understand my boss, he observes quite carefully. Although I also felt that the job was boring at first, but I did not show it on the outside and still completed the task well. Because of my “stubborn” nature, I can keep my composure. I was lucky because I was finally able to catch my boss’s “eyes” and was given a bigger task by him. Hopefully my confession will be an expensive lesson for many young people in the office environment.
