Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai has just signed a Decision approving the Tax Reform Strategy to 2030 in order to maintain the ratio of mobilization to the state budget from taxes and fees at a stable and reasonable level.

On that basis, the research is perfected in the direction of increasing the regulation level for the soil and supplementing collect taxes on houses in order to encourage the effective use of houses and land, contribute to limiting speculation on houses and land, ensure the mobilization of a reasonable and stable source of income for the state budget, suitable to the socio-economic conditions of the country. Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai also requested to develop tax policies in a way that is simple, easy to understand, easy to identify objects subject to property tax, payable tax amounts, in sync with the provisions of the law on land and provisions of relevant laws.

Before that, at the end of March 2022, the tax on houses and real estate also mentioned in the Finance Strategy to 2030 approved by the Prime Minister.

In September 2021, National Assembly Chairwoman Vuong Dinh Hue suggested Thanh Hoa to study pilot property tax (housing tax) policy in urban areas. The application of house tax according to the President of the National Assembly should be piloted for large urban governments. If Thanh Hoa successfully piloted the housing tax, it could later be applied to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
