Ms. Nguyen Thi Thom, living in Bien Hoa city, working in Amata Bien Hoa Industrial Park, Dong Nai, said that she has been a worker for 20 years, but for the past 3 years, her life has been difficult and hard, not enough for family expenses.

On average, each month, her family has to pay nearly 1.8 million dong for rent, 5 million dong to send back to her hometown to send her children to school and take care of elderly parents. The epidemic has lasted for a long time, her income has decreased, so with a meager salary, her family has to struggle a lot to balance expenses. According to the plan, Dong Nai province will support 500,000 VND/person/month for workers who are renting or staying in accommodation during the period from February 1 to June 30, 2022. Workers need to have an indefinite-term labor contract or a definite-term labor contract of 1 month or more signed and implemented before April 1, 2022; are participating in compulsory social insurance in enterprises in industrial parks, export processing zones or key economic areas.

The locality supports 1 million VND/person/month for workers who are renting or staying in lodgings during the period from April 1 to June 30, 2022; having an indefinite-term labor contract or a definite-term labor contract of 1 month or more entered into and performed during the period from April 1 to June 30, 2022, unless connection of contracts signed and performed previously; are participating in compulsory social insurance in the month preceding the time the employer makes a list of employees requesting rent support.

Support payment period in 3 months, monthly payment method.

Ms. Hien said that the Department of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs of Dong Nai province is coordinating with localities and businesses to review documents and pay support to employees. In order for the policy implementation to be quick, open and transparent, the most important thing is the propaganda to let employees know if they are eligible for support or not.

According to Ms. Hien, unlike previous times, this payment will be transferred to the enterprise, then the enterprise will transfer to the employees. When enterprises make payments to employees, the list must be posted and publicized at the unit.

“During the recent epidemic, the people most affected and the most difficult were the workers, especially the workers staying in the hostel. Therefore, the policy to support rent for employees is very meaningful, partly supporting difficulties for employees when returning to work,” said Ms. Hien.
