Taylor Swift named for new worm

CNN Reportedly, scientists have discovered a new species of milipede. This pteropod was named Nannaria swiftae, also known as the twisted clawed Swift. The scientist who discovered and named this new organism is graduate student Derek Hennen from the University of Virginia.

In the study published in the journal Zookeythe name Swift’s twisted claws honors ‘s dancing ability Taylor Swift. The star, born in 1989, was once known by the artist world as the female singer with the strongest spine on the planet.

Derek Hennen – the lead author of the study – identifies himself as a genuine Swiftie (Swift’s fandom name). Naming the female singer for the new species is his way of honoring the female vocalist Blank Space.

“Music Her help helped me through many difficult times. It’s great that her songs bring me so much joy.”said Dr.

Hennen also hopes Taylor Swift is pleased to be the inspiration for a new species of millipede. He also hopes that the singer will see this as an opportunity to learn more about the milipede species.

“For a scientist, it’s considered honorable to name a new species after someone. I hope she’ll see this in a positive light.”Hennen added.

Before Taylor Swift, only a few artists were an inspiration to scientists. America’s most famous impersonator RuPaul (the mother of the multiple Emmy Award-winning show RuPaul’s Drag Race) is named for the rainbow fly Opaluma rupaul. The plant Uvariopsis dicaprio is named after actor Leonardo DiCaprio for his conservation efforts.

Dolly Parton and Lady Gaga again inspired the names of plants. One species of lichen named after Parton is Japewiella dollypartoniana. Lady Gaga is again named for a genus of 19 species of ferns in the family Pteridaceae.
