United Nations and Ukraine discuss evacuation of civilians

At a press conference on the results of the talks, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that the United Nations is making every effort to get the stranded people out of the steel plant in the city of Mariupol, where Russia and Ukraine is at war. However, he said, he would not disclose the details and timing of the evacuation, so as not to disrupt the above plan.

For his part, Ukrainian President Zelensky stated that he believes that, together with the UN Secretary-General, they can achieve results.

Previously, UN Secretary General A. Guterres visited Russia and held talks with President Vladimir Putin. At the meeting, the Russian leader agreed to the proposal of the UN Secretary-General for the International Committee of the Red Cross to participate in the evacuation of civilians from the Azovstal plant in Mariupol.
