Parents angry because children eat stale food, principal says ‘open another school’

After the school search process, many parents fell back because the kindergarten’s food warehouse was full of rancid and expired food.

The incident happened at a kindergarten in Hubei province, China when many parents complained that the school was feeding their children expired milk and food, making some children sick.

Accordingly, a school teacher accidentally sent a request to buy food on the parent chat group, thereby being suspected of buying expired food. Many parents immediately rushed to the school early in the morning and asked to check the food being served. However, the school refused, so the parents checked in themselves. In the end, they discovered a stockpile of expired food.

“Come here, look, the milk has expired. The school is feeding the kids with expired food,” one father shouted. He also adds that meat products have a bad smell.

The mother, surnamed Wei, said products such as whipped cream and milk were spoiled and the meat smelled rancid. “After asking many parents, we learned that all of the children have health problems such as vomiting, stomach disorders,” – this parent said. In addition, parents also reported a case of food poisoning at the school last year.

However, to the anger of parents, the principal is said to have declared: “In the future, I can open another school”.

The incident drew much criticism in the media and the local government immediately stepped in. They announced that not only closed the kindergarten, but also appropriately punished the principal and staff in the incident.
