Tan Son Nhat Airport increased by more than 100,000 passengers on the last day of the holiday

Tan Son Nhat Airport will welcome more than 100,000 passengers this year at the end of the holidays of April 30 and May 1, equivalent to the peak period of the 2022 Lunar New Year.

At noon rush hour, thousands of passengers poured into the two gates of the domestic terminal.

According to the Southern Airport Authority, today (May 3), the last day of the holidays of April 30 and May 1, the number of domestic visitors to Tan Son Nhat airport will be very crowded, equal to the peak of Tet Lunar New Year 2022. It is expected that more than 51,000 domestic visitors will arrive in Ho Chi Minh City via the airport, along with more than 4,600 international visitors.

Visitors returning to Ho Chi Minh City after the holiday are expected to increase sharply, focusing from 11 am to the end of May 3, especially paying attention to the peak hours from 16:00 to 19:00 and from 21:00 to 0:00.

The total number of passengers going to and from Tan Son Nhat airport suddenly increased by more than 100,000 people. In which, at domestic stations accounted for nearly 90,000 turns.

Passengers arriving at the domestic station carry their luggage to the waiting lanes.

Before the expected increase in the number of passengers arriving at the domestic terminal, a representative of the port authority said that the airport had asked airlines and service units to increase personnel to guide and support passengers. Station operators have increased staff to collect trolleys, ensuring that there are enough vehicles at the domestic conveyor belt area for passengers.

The aviation security department is required to monitor the situation of taxis to pick up passengers, monitor the slots (planes take off and land), remind the carriers to regulate the vehicles to pick up passengers fully and promptly as committed.

From 11 a.m. on May 3, thousands of passengers continuously poured out from the two terminals until the flights landed continuously. The aviation security force is mobilized, arranged to separate the lanes and guide people from the exit door to the entrances to the boarding point in the lanes to leave the airport.

The waiting lanes are quite few passengers while many taxis stop waiting but there are no customers.

Nguyen Ngoc Quynh (Thu Duc City) said that there was a delay of more than 30 minutes at Da Nang airport, but it did not affect the flight after more than 3 days of traveling in this coastal city. “The inside of the luggage islands is quite crowded but it only takes about 20 minutes to get the luggage. Seeing that the situation of taxis picking up passengers at the lanes is not stressful this afternoon, I will take a taxi back,” the guest said.

From the morning to the early afternoon of May 3, at the taxi and technology car lanes, the number of passengers in the early afternoon was not too stressful. There is no situation where customers have to struggle to find taxis and technology vehicles like the last Lunar New Year. Many drivers open the door to the side of the waiting lane, asking passengers to go. Taxis from different companies wait in line to wait for customers.

It is expected that starting from 16:00 today, the number of visitors to Tan Son Nhat airport will skyrocket compared to the morning. The Port Authority recommends that arrivals should proactively book a car early to avoid long waits.

Some taxi drivers waiting for customers in the parking lot said that in the morning, there were quite a few customers. However, they forecast that from 16:00 this afternoon to midnight, in the peak time frame for flights to the domestic terminal, the number of passengers traveling by car will increase very much compared to the present time.

Although taxi companies have increased vehicles on this holiday, according to the port authority, there may be a shortage of passenger cars at Tan Son Nhat airport during peak hours, so the management agency recommends passengers should proactively book a car in advance to avoid having to wait for a long time.
