8-year-old boy attacked by shark in Phuket

The accident happened while the boy was swimming off Phuket’s Kamala beach.

After being taken to the hospital, the boy required 33 stitches. Luckily the wound was not too serious.

After assessing the wound, the director of the Thai Coastal and Marine Resources Research Center said that the boy was most likely bitten by a bull shark.

Currently, signs have been erected on Kamala beach to advise beachgoers to exercise caution when swimming in the area.

Lifeguards were also deployed on the beach as a precaution.
