Russia parades on Red Square

11,000 Russian servicemen, 131 motor vehicles and 77 aircraft of all kinds will participate in the Victory Parade to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s defeat of Nazi Germany, ending the Great Patriotic War. at Red Square in the center of Moscow, Russia at 10 am (14:00 Hanoi time) today.

This year Russia’s Victory Parade takes place in the context of the country opening a special military operation to “demilitarize and de-fascist Ukraine”.

The Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) was the largest-scale war and caused the heaviest casualties in human history, with about 27 million Soviet soldiers and civilians killed defending the homeland and humanity before fascism.

The war ended on May 9, 1945, when the representative of Nazi Germany signed a document confirming unconditional surrender before the Allied representative in Berlin. The Soviet Red Army held its first Victory Parade on June 24, 1945. The next parade took place on May 9, 1965, 1985 and 1990.

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Russia resumed the Victory Parade in Moscow in 1995. Since then, this event has taken place annually on May 9. However, in 2020, the Victory Parade in Moscow was postponed to June 24 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
