E-commerce drives the whole retail industry in Q2

“Through the fourth E-commerce Business Confidence Index (DCCI) report conducted by Lazada, we see that the confidence of sellers is becoming increasingly firm in the context of the economy. Before that, the Group’s online consumer behavior survey in Southeast Asia Lazada recorded 73% consumers believe that online shopping has become an integral part of their daily lives,” said Magnus Ekbom, Chief Strategy Officer of Lazada Group.

The growth confidence of sellers is getting stronger from the fourth quarter of 2021. Specifically, at that time, 74% of sellers expected their sales to increase by more than 10% in the next quarter – this number has increased to 77% in the first quarter of 2022. Similarly, the percentage of sellers anticipating a drop in sales improved from 12% in Q4 2021 to 7% in Q1 2022. To meet online demand expected to grow in the next quarter, 74% of sellers said they would increase their total inventory by at least 10% over the next three months, and 47% assert that they will improve their human resources.

Conducted in the first quarter of 2022 with the participation of 766 online sellers from across Southeast Asia, the E-Commerce Business Confidence Index (DCCI) report shows growing seller confidence Products are represented in a variety of industries.

In particular, department stores (81%), fashion (78%) and FMCG (76%) are the three most anticipated industries.
