Swim to save a friend who was struggling in the middle of the dam, 2 students tragically drowned

On May 18, the leader of the People’s Committee of Tam Son commune (Cam Khe district, Phu Tho province) informed PV that there was a recent drowning incident that caused two students to drown. dead pitiful.

The identities of the victims were identified as Nguyen Thi Mai T. and Nguyen Duc T. (13 years old, residing in Tam Son commune, Cam Khe district).

Accordingly, in the early afternoon of May 17, there were 13 students of class 8A2 at Tam Son Secondary School due to a break from school, so they invited each other to the dam area in Tam Son commune to play.

While sitting close to the edge of the dam, a student in the group suddenly fell into the water. Discovering the incident, Nguyen Thi Mai T. and Nguyen Duc T. jumped into the water to save their friends. The group of friends on the shore also used a rope and pulled the student who had fallen into the previous dam to the shore.

However, Duc T. was now carried away from the shore by the current. Seeing this, Mai T. swam back to save Duc T. but lost strength and drowning. Discovering the incident, the group of students shouted and called for help.

About 30 minutes later, people brought Mai T. and Duc T. to shore and performed first aid, but both victims died.

The leader of Tam Son commune added that at the time of the incident, the children played in the dam area far from the residential area and at noon, so there was no traffic, leading to the tragic incident. Currently, the bodies of the two children have been handed over to their families to take care of the aftermath

Summer time has come, local authorities as well as schools have regularly reminded and propagated to students to prevent drowning-related incidents, but heartbreaking incidents still happen.
