Cambodia preserves soft shell turtles

The Cambodia Wildlife Conservation Association released 580 young Cantor turtles into the Mekong River, out of 982 turtles that were rescued while still in their eggs. These turtle eggs have been brought back to the nest by conservationists and raised before being released back into the wild.

Cantor turtles had almost disappeared due to poaching and illegal trade until they were found in Cambodia in 2007. This soft-shell turtle mainly lives in water and in soft sand, only floating every day. up twice to breathe and can grow up to 2 meters in length.
