This year’s Thinking Assessment Exam was held by Hanoi University of Science and Technology on July 15, 2022 at Hanoi (Hanoi University of Science and Technology and neighboring schools), Hai Phong (Vietnam Maritime University), Nghe An (Vinh University), Tuyen Quang (Tan Trao University) and Da Nang (Da Nang University of Science and Technology).
About the structure of the thinking assessment test of Hanoi University of Science and Technology: The combined test takes place in 270 minutes and consists of three parts: Compulsory part in Math and Reading Comprehension (120 minutes); elective part 1 includes natural sciences: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (90 minutes); Optional part 2 is English (60 minutes) or can be converted to international certificates such as IELTS. Candidates are required to take the Math – Reading Comprehension test. In the elective section, candidates can choose either the natural sciences or English, or both.
Compulsory exams are held in the morning, and two electives are held in the afternoon to ensure candidates can take all three exams.
The thinking test will be taken on paper, the questions are multiple choice and answer sheets are like the high school exam. Particularly in Math and English, there is an essay section to assess the thinking and presentation ability of the candidates.
The purpose of the exam is to select candidates with good academic ability, so the questions in the test are highly classified with a wide score spectrum. With this method, competitive industries will easily select excellent students, meeting the strictness of selection.
