Britons eagerly celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Day

People wait in line for their turn outside the Corgi Cam photo booth in Leadenhall Market, a long-standing shopping district in London on June 1. They can wear capes, crowns, take pictures with a pack of Corgis.

The Corgi is the Queen’s favorite dog. She has been a dog breeder since the age of 18, often appearing with her pet dog in many events such as the opening video of the 2012 London Olympics.

Katie Raby, the organizer of the Corgi Cam, said the free event exceeded the organizers’ expectations. Many people had to wait in line for several hours. The event takes place from noon to 6pm, each person has 5 minutes to take pictures.

“Everybody remembers the image of the Queen with the Corgi dogs. We want to save the image as a souvenir,” Raby said. “The dogs are familiar with the work, not bothered at all.”
