Sri Lanka urgently adds crude oil to ease the crisis

Reuters on May 28 reported Sri Lanka will pay 72.6 million USD to receive 90,000 tons of crude oil from Russia.

The oil has been sitting at the port of Colombo for weeks, but Sri Lanka has not yet had the money to pay it off, Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said.

Sri Lanka will now pay through Dubai-based Coral Energy and will restart the country’s only refinery, which has been closed from the end of March. Mr. Wijesekera said Sri Lanka will need more. crude oil within the next 2 weeks to be able to maintain the factory operation.
