The weather in the central region – Central Highlands is about to peak hot season, electricity consumption in the population often increases. In the central region, from June to August every year, the weather is at its peak. According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the Central – Central Highlands region, this year’s hot season will increase the temperature by 0.5 – 1°C higher than the average of many years, at the same time appear many local heat waves.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Hung, Deputy Head of Sales Department of Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC), said that in hot weather, customers’ demand for electricity often increases. In April 2022, at the beginning of the hot season, the commercial power output supplied to customers throughout EVNCPC reached 6.6 billion kWh, up 5.06% over the same period last year.

One of the main reasons for the Power consumption The increase is due to customers using electricity for cooling equipment in hot days. In particular, this is the summer vacation, when students stay home from school, the demand for electricity for cooling increases.

Among them, the air conditioner is one of the power consuming devices and accounts for a large proportion of electricity consumption in households. In particular, when the ambient temperature increases, the electricity consumption of the air conditioner also increases even though the usage time may not change. According to experts, when the outdoor temperature increases by 1 degree Celsius, the electricity consumption of the air conditioner increases by 2-3%, the temperature increases by about 5 degrees Celsius, the power consumption increases by about 10%.

In addition to cooling equipment, many families also use many electrical appliances with large capacity at the same time such as water heaters, pumps, washing machines, etc., making electricity consumption abnormally high. In addition, in some cases, the wiring behind the customer’s meter is not guaranteed, the wire is peeled, causing electricity leakage, causing power loss, increasing power output and showing “shocking” numbers. ” on the electricity bill at the end of the month.

EVNCPC recommends that, in order to avoid out-of-control electricity consumption, households need to actively adjust their electricity use, especially paying attention to cooling equipment and large-capacity electrical equipment. Along with proactively adjusting electricity usage habits, EVNCPC recommends that customers regularly monitor their family’s daily electricity consumption.
