On the screen, both Avin Lu and Bui Lan Huong played the role of the most classic singer-songwriter couple in Vietnamese music history.
With Bui Lan Huong, the role showed her great potential with her first cinematic touch. The female singer shows a liberal Khanh Ly, a bit “goofy” in both charisma and voice. The role also has inner scenes such as when thinking about her mother’s situation of “one armpit with two children” or the moment of parting with a soulmate… the eye expression is well expressed by Lan Huong.

Me and Trinh Filmed in early November 2020, was once scheduled to be released in 2021 – the 20th anniversary of the musician’s death – but had to be postponed due to the epidemic. The work has an estimated budget of 40 billion VND, after filming is 50 billion VND, mainly invested in the context from the 1960s to the 1990s. The film consists of 40 key actors, 3,000 public roles, and many experience scenes. from Hue to Ho Chi Minh City. About 1,000 costumes were used over two months of filming.
A few days before the premiere, the crew film surprised the audience when announcing the division of the work into 2 copies. In which part Trinh Cong Son with a length of 95 minutes will focus on the young story of the musician (played by Avin Lu). The pink shadows in life and music such as Diem Xua, Dao Anh, Thanh Thuy, Khanh Ly all appear in turn through each youth milestone. The film attracts attention when recreating the war scene, how musicians and people adapt, ponder and agonize over a dream of peace expressed through anti-war songs.
In the section Me and Trinh With a length of 136 minutes, the film explores the life of musician Trinh in middle age (played by Meritorious Artist Tran Luc). When the war passed and his age grew older, he brought anxiety about his career, life, and love affair with Japanese schoolgirl Michiko Yoshii.
