Bicycle Fridays in Spain

Liam Grant is preparing for a special trip to school. This Friday, your baby won’t be in the back of your bike as usual. Instead, the 4-year-old will ride his bike with dozens of other young people in Barcelona. Children ride bicycles on the sidewalk or in the bike lane.

Celia Galan – Liam’s mother said: “The kids love to ride their own bikes because they feel in control, which is something different and new.”

It was a little party on wheels – with music and applause for the kids. With the whole street to themselves, the kids don’t have to worry about the thousands of cars that often drive here. Every Friday, for about an hour, cars will not be allowed on the road leading to this school, so children can ride safely.
