The mission of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development went to inspect and request the completion of the resettlement work at Krong Pac Thuong irrigation project (Dak Lak) for fear of flooding.

Here, the mission focused on quickly speeding up the resettlement and sedentary activities for about 700 households in the lakebed area.
According to reports from relevant authorities, there are currently only about 200 households out of more than 700 households in the lakebed area going to the number one resettlement area in Cu Elang commune, Ea Kar district.
The resettlement site No. 2 was deployed in Cu Bong commune, Ea Kar district to resettle more than 500 households who are still in the process of site clearance and infrastructure construction, so they have not been able to relocate.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep said that the work of resettling and sedentary farming for people in the Krong Pac Thuong irrigation project is worrisome despite having achieved positive results in recent years.
Mr. Hiep suggested Dak Lak province and related parties speed up the resettlement and sedentary work for the people and must be very focused during this dry season. The deadline set by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is the end of this month, June 30, right at the time when the Central Highlands is at the peak of the rainy season.
“When it comes to the main flood, these 500 households are very dangerous, they themselves want to go, but the new accommodation must be better than the old one and they still have to have productive land,” said Deputy Minister Hiep.
Krong Pac Thuong Irrigation Project has a total investment of 4,400 billion VND, represented by the 8 Irrigation Project Management Board.
Currently, the construction work has been about 80% of the volume, with the main dam nearing completion and more than 40km of the total 60km water canal has been completed.
In the past few years, every time a flood occurs, people in the lakebed area have to move to higher points to avoid floods.
