Composer Hong Dang, the author of the song Hoa Sua passed away

The author of the famous song “Hoa Sua” passed away at 5:57 am on March 21 at Huu Nghi Hospital, at the age of 86.

Musician Hong Dang was born in 1936 in Yen Thanh, Nghe An; took the first composition class of the Vietnamese music school; Former Deputy General Secretary of Vietnam Composers Association, Editor-in-Chief of Music magazine and Music World.

He is the first musician admitted to the Vietnam Cinema Association, member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam – Japan Cultural Exchange Association, member of the National Committee for the Decade of International Cultural Development. He was awarded the State Prize in 2001, the Bui Xuan Phai Prize for the love of Hanoi in 2021.

He has composed more than 700 works, covering many genres: songs, choirs, scenes, instrumentals, soundtracks, music stage…

In particular, he composed music used for more than 70 films, including famous soundtrack songs such as: Milk flower (Hanoi bird nest season), Floating (Singing life), Sea singing this afternoon (many movies about the sea), Nostalgia for the ocean night (Salt grains of the sea), Sea and my girl unfamiliar (Small stars), Blue space (Sky)…

He is credited with initiating Half a century of Vietnamese music and he himself was honored in the 2000 Music Path.
