Why did Liu Bei claim to be a descendant of the Han dynasty but did not mention Liu Bang? Of course high scheming!

In the Three Kingdoms, compared to Cao Cao and Sun Quan, Liu Bei weaker in status and background. However, after that, Liu Bei was still able to build an inheritance, establish the Shu Han Dynasty and become one of the three strongest forces in the Three Kingdoms. What is the cause? Why is Liu Bei “empty-handed” but still able to make a big deal? All have causes.

The root of the problem from the beginning Liu Bei recognized and was always careful in every word. The fact that he always identifies himself as a descendant of the Han Dynasty is a clear example.

Ever since he was anonymous, Liu Bei always introduced himself as: “I am Liu Bei, descendant of Trung Son Vuong Luu Thang“. However, the question is why Liu Bei always identifies himself as a descendant of Trung Son Tinh Vuong Luu Thang, a vassal king of the Han Dynasty, but not Han Cao To Luu Bang, the emperor who declared himself. kingdom of this dynasty?

It turns out that Liu Bei did this for the following two reasons.

What is the reason Liu Bei did not mention Liu Bang?

Liu Bei always identifies himself as a descendant of the Han dynasty.

First, Liu Bei’s claim to be a descendant of Trung Son Tinh Vuong Luu Thang is reasonable and coincidental.

Liu Sheng was the 9th son of Han Canh De, the 6th emperor of the Han Dynasty. According to Hanshu, in 154 BC, Luu Thang was established by Emperor Han Canh as Trung Son King and ruled over Trung Son, a vassal of the Han Dynasty. By chance, Liu Bei also came to live in Zhongshan.

According to historical records, Trung Son Tinh Vuong Luu Thang had 22 children and 120 grandchildren. The number of such large descendants in later generations continued to increase. Thus, there are many descendants of Luu Thang.

Therefore, even if Liu Bei is not a descendant of this Trung Son Tinh Vuong, it is difficult for contemporaries to verify.

In addition, Trung Son Tinh Vuong Luu Thang and Han Vu De, the 7th emperor of the Han Dynasty were half-brothers. Luu Thang was Trung Son Tinh Vuong, the first vassal king of Zhongshan, a vassal state of the Han Dynasty.

Therefore, the fact that Liu Bei always identifies himself as Luu Thang’s grandson, is meant to show that he is helping and supporting the Han Dynasty. This argument is also not inappropriate. Although no one asked who Liu Bei was a descendant of, Liu Bei’s way of speaking was unintentionally very coincidental and hidden deep inside.

According to Records of the Three Kingdoms, Liu Bei was poor and lost his father early. He had to work with his mother to make grass shoes and grass mats to earn a living. It can be said that Liu Bei’s background is very low. But by introducing himself as a descendant of the Han royal family, Liu Bei, despite difficulties, was still able to make friends with many famous people at that time. Obviously, claiming to be a descendant of the Han dynasty was very beneficial for Luu Bei from the very beginning of his career.

Liu Bang was the first emperor of the Han Dynasty.

Second, Liu Bei cannot claim to be a descendant of Han Cao To Luu Bang. Because in the Han Dynasty, the emperor’s relatives and the last name Liu were all conferred the title of Vuong, also known as the Prince of Chu. These vassals all have their own land, army, and power.

Although Liu Bang was the first emperor to establish the Han Dynasty, he was not the ancestor of Liu Bei. Therefore, Liu Bei cannot claim to be a descendant of Liu Bang.

However, just in the name of being a descendant of Trung Son Tinh Vuong Luu Thang, which also means a descendant of the Han dynasty, has given Luu Be a lot of advantages when recruiting sages. With this special identity along with always holding the banner of humanity, Luu Bei has recruited many talented people to support him such as Zhuge Liang, Bang Thong, Quan Vu, Truong Phi, Trieu Van…

Thanks to that, Liu Bei gradually built up his influence, even becoming the first emperor of the Shu Han Dynasty. Indeed it is not that simple.
