Russia raised the condition that Putin meet with the President of Ukraine

The Kremlin has said that Russian President Putin can only meet his Ukrainian counterpart Zelensky when there is a specific written agreement between the two countries.

“President Putin has never ruled out (the possibility of meeting the President Ukraine Zelensky). The president has never ruled out such a meeting and hypothetically it is possible,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on television today. The specific text was agreed upon by the two negotiating delegations. Not a collection of ideas, but a specific text. After that, the meeting will be held.”

On the same day, the leading member of the negotiating delegation Russia said it is still too early to talk about holding a conference between the President Putin and President Zelensky to end the conflict.

Under pressure from sanctions, a Kremlin spokesman affirmed that “it is impossible for Russia to be isolated, it is technologically impossible in the modern world”.

The world is “a lot bigger than Europe”, he said, adding that “sooner or later we will have to build a dialogue, whether some countries want it or not”.

After Russia launched a military campaign in Ukraine on February 24, the US and its allies imposed a series of sanctions on this country such as removing the most favored nation status, banning the import of many goods from Russia or removing some banks. Russian goods from the international payment system SWIFT. Several countries have seized yachts and other assets of Russian oligarchs.

Peskov also warned that Russia could ask “unfriendly” countries to pay for other goods in rubles, besides fuel.

Countries considered “unfriendly” by Russia include the US, EU member states, the UK, Japan, Canada, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland and Ukraine.

While the US earlier last month decided to ban imports of Russian oil and gas, the EU has withheld contracts to buy gas from Moscow. Russia is supplying 40% of Europe’s gas needs, of which virtue, Italy and many Central European countries depend heavily on this supply. About 25% of the oil supply to Europe also comes from Russia.
