Ukraine’s President warns of casualties after “Bucha massacre”

The number of civilian casualties in Borodyanka and many other cities in Ukraine may be even higher than in Bucha, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in a new video posted today, April 5:

“There have been reports that the number of victims may be even higher in Borodyanka and some other newly liberated cities,” Zelensky said.

According to Zelensky, more than 300 people have died in Bucha but the total number of victims is likely to increase as the entire city is examined.

Mr. Zelensky emphasized the importance of the press in reporting the consequences in Ukrainian cities.

“We provide maximum access for journalists to Bucha and other cities in Ukraine. For hundreds of journalists from around the world. And we look forward to seeing thousands of journalists there. More and more. the better!” said Mr. Zelensky.

In addition, Mr. Zelensky also reiterated his plea, expressing his desire to receive more weapons to fight against the Russian forces. He stressed that Ukraine must acquire all the necessary weapons to repel Moscow’s forces.

“If we had what we needed – all the planes, tanks, artillery, anti-ship weapons, anti-aircraft weapons, we could save thousands of lives,” Zelensky said.

Zelensky’s statement came as Ukraine released pictures of bodies in Bucha and accused Russia of “massacre” in the city – accusations Moscow has denied. This allegation has not yet been officially verified.
