The Daily Mail on August 19 reported that Veronica Schmidt, a reporter for Radio New Zealand, screamed when she discovered a phone (still working) recording her nude in a New Zealand dressing room.

“Many women in other dressing rooms were startled by the screams. However, the door in the dressing room next to mine was still closed,” Veronica told the NZ Herald.

The female reporter immediately rushed to the dressing room, closed the door and shouted loudly to the person inside: “Quickly open the door and give me that phone.”

Inside the closed locker room was a man named Walid Soliman.

When the door opened, Soliman stepped out and shrugged, “What’s wrong?” then turned around and tried to delete the pictures and videos he had just recorded on his phone.

Soliman was about to leave when he was stopped by Saskia, a woman from another changing room. Saskia asks why Soliman appeared in the girls’ locker room.

“Police were called shortly after. One officer worked with the pervert, the other worked with me. The policewoman looked straight at me and said, ‘I’m sorry about what happened'” , Veronica shared.

Soliman denied any wrongdoing and a lengthy legal battle began when Veronica decided not to let the pervert get away with guilt.

After working with the police, Solimon was very conflicted when “drawing” 3 stories to justify his actions. At first, this man said he only filmed himself trying on shoes. Then, Solimon admitted to secretly filming Veronica but suddenly “forgot” due to the side effects of the painkiller Tramadol. Finally, this man said he left the phone on the ground while changing. However, Veronica sees the phone and assumes that she is being filmed.

Solimon was accused but refused to accept. According to the NZ Herald, the case happened in 2019 but 10 months later, a new trial was set.

The trial then went awry and had to be adjourned for a month. Veronica spent 1.5 hours in court as a witness. She heard and watched evidence, including tapes made by police when questioning the suspect. In the end, Solimon was found guilty of secretly filming female reporter Veronica. This pervert will be sentenced in October 2020.
