Two representatives of Southeast Asia won the AFC Champions League, will HAGL follow?

The defending champion of Thailand BG Pathum faced the team of K-League 2, Jeonnam Dragons at home. Before this encounter, Jeonnam Dragons was in bad form when losing 2 of the last 3 matches. It is understandable that the K-League 2 club played worse than the Thai representative in the first 45 minutes.

BG Pathum dominated the ball and fired more shots than their opponents, although their strikers were less charming in front of Jeonnam Dragons’ goal.

After tireless attacking efforts, BG Pathum finally tore the net of Jeonnam Dragons after 51 minutes. From Kanitsribampen’s cross, Charoenrattanapirom accurately cushioned the ball inside the box to help BG Pathum open the scoring.

After this goal, Jeonnam Dragons was forced to push up the squad to find a goal to shorten the score. BG Pathum’s defense revealed a loophole, but the Jeonnam Dragons players finished so badly that they missed the opportunity.

Even the Korean team conceded a second goal after Jakkaphan Praisuwan’s header in the penalty area in the 72nd minute. This was also the winning goal for BG Pathum. With this victory, BG Pathum temporarily leads Group G with 4 points after 2 matches.

Jakkaphan Praisuwan doubles the gap for the Thai club

Meanwhile, another Korean representative, Daegu FC, lost in shock to Lion City, a Singapore team.

After winning 7-0 against Shandong Taishan 3 days ago, Daegu FC is expected to easily pocket 3 points when facing Lion City. However, the Singapore club surprised by scoring first after 21 minutes of play.

From the ball hanging on the left of Lestienne, Lion City player Song Ui-young escaped into the space between the two defenders of Daegu FC to head the opponent’s net.

Things got worse for Daegu FC when Lion City doubled the lead in the 71st minute. From a quick counter-attack, Diego Lopes hit the Korean team’s net.

Lion City created a seismic victory when winning Daegu FC

The nightmare did not stop for Daegu FC when 9 minutes later, their net vibrated for the 3rd time. This time Pedro Henrique accurately headed in the penalty area, thereby increasing the score to 3-0 for Singapore’s representative.

Daegu FC still had to play with 10 people at the end of the match. Their defender Hong Chul received a red card for a foul on an opposing player. After 90 minutes, Lion City won an unbelievable 3-0 victory over Daegu FC. This victory helps the Singapore team to rank 2nd in Group F and above Daegu FC.

The victory of two Southeast Asian teams, BG Pathum and Lion City, will add confidence to HAGL. Coach Kiatisuk’s team will face Australia’s Sydney club tomorrow (April 19).
