Iraq delays many flights because of dust storms

In a statement issued, the management of Baghdad International Airport said that flights were delayed because of bad weather and visibility less than 500m. Flights will be resumed when weather conditions permit.

A similar situation occurred at Najaf airport, many flights were canceled due to the impact of dust storms.

Iraq’s meteorology and seismology agency predicts that the dust storm will continue to affect today, April 21, and weather conditions will be better in the following days.

In recent months, Iraq has continuously suffered from dust storms. Experts believe that the lack of rain in the last winter, dryness and a small area covered by trees are the causes of this situation.
