Four students drowned

Nghe AnFour female students in grade 8 from Nghia Loc Secondary School, Nghia Loc Commune, Nghia Dan District, while bathing in a lake, drowned, on the afternoon of April 25.

More than 2 pm, six female students in grade 8 on their way to extra school invited each other to Khe Giang lake in Nghia Loc commune to cool off. All six children slipped into a deep water hole, two of which were able to get out on their own.

The remaining four children including Hoang Quynh Trang, Vo Thi Thao My, Nguyen Ha Giang and Hoang Thi Lan Anh, living in Nghia Loc commune, gradually sank.

People a few hundred meters away heard the cry for help and approached but could not save. The victim’s area is more than 3 m deep.

Dozens of police and people organized diving. At 6pm, all four bodies were picked up ashore and handed over to the family for funerals.

Mr. Lai Van Duong, Vice Chairman of Nghia Loc Commune, said that the lake where the children had an accident was about 2 hectares wide, in which many locations were 3-5 meters deep and had warning signs posted. The commune and Nghia Dan district authorities are organizing to visit and encourage the families of the victims.

Recently on 4/4, schoolgirl year Grade 6 in Thanh Hoa drowned when they went to the spillway of the Moc Khe river in Thieu Hoa district to play.

From April 24 to 27, Nghe An as well as the North and Central Central provinces are extremely hot, with the highest temperature of the day up to 37-39 degrees Celsius, the air humidity is only 50-60%. Many students and adults tend to find a place to cool off.
