Answering CNBC on April 25, Mr. Trump said he would not return to Twitter. “No, I’m not going back to Twitter. I will stay at Truth Social network. We have a lot of subscribers. I love Musk, very much. He is an outstanding individual. We did a lot of things for Twitter when I was in the White House. I’m disappointed by the way Twitter treats me. I will not return to Twitter.”

In January 2021, Twitter permanently banned the former US President after his supporters staged riots on Capitol Hill. The company said the decision was made taking into account the risk of further incitement to violence. Mr. Trump has more than 80 million followers on the platform.

Questions about whether Mr. Trump will be able to lift the ban on Twitter surfaced after Musk expressed a desire to buy the social network. In an interview with TED, the billionaire expressed his opinion that everyone has the right to free speech within the framework of the law. He also said he was not in favor of permanent bans but more in favor of suspension. The CEOs of Tesla and SpaceX often use Twitter to share jokes, promote business intentions on all topics.

So far, Mr. Trump has only posted one post on Truth Social, which he promotes as a free speech platform that replaces Big Tech’s platforms. Truth Social belongs to the media group Trump Media & Technology.

Meanwhile, Twitter has just accepted Elon Musk’s offer to buy back for $54.2 per share, equivalent to $44 billion.
