On average, there is a fight for every 5,200 students; one out of every 11,000 students was forced to drop out of school because of a fight; One out of every nine schools has students fighting.

Collaboration between family, school and society is a way to reduce school violence

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Ngo Thi Minh said that over the past time, there is still a part of young people showing signs of deterioration and deviation in moral qualities and lifestyle such as: dishonesty, lack of responsibility towards others. self, family, school; The most ominous situation is that the situation of school violence is still complicated in some localities, while the phenomenon of students fighting, students hitting teachers; the phenomenon of indifference, insensitivity, not daring to defend right, wrong, negative not daring to fight, not dissuade, but also record videos and post them online as an encouragement for violent behavior.

Besides, it is a fact that Vietnamese students are well trained in theory, but lack soft skills, lack the spirit of working in industrial style, working in groups.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trong An, former Director of the Child Protection Department (Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, school violence is a long-standing and increasingly serious problem. The coordination between family, school and society to educate children is just a slogan but still very loose.

Almost the entire education system of Vietnam, especially schools, still does not have a counseling department on school psychology for students. In formal education, too, during the past time, there have been many such incidents due to potential personal conflicts within each student. Conflict that is not resolved, accumulated for a long time like a drop of water will lead to negative behaviors.

In schools, if teachers understand school psychology, student psychology, adolescent psychology, have skills and knowledge about psychology, they can advise to prevent and release repressed problems. in each individual student, certainly unfortunate events will not happen.

According to Mr. An, in an educational environment, if there is a problem of violence, it cannot be called an educational environment. The educational environment is apart from cultural and knowledge issues, there must also be ethical and moral issues. If violence occurs, it will tarnish the pure educational environment.

Along with that, violence can lead to accidents and injuries. For students with weak nerves or those with psychological problems, it can lead to more serious consequences such as suicide, dropping out of school, breaking the law, falling into drug addiction. , stabbing each other, causing social disorder.

Mr. An said that in order to prevent school violence, besides the attention of the school, the fundamental solution still comes from the family. Every family needs to have a certain background in educating their children. However, in reality, family education in Vietnam is still overlooked.

Many fathers and mothers in rural areas do not seem to have the skills and knowledge to educate their children, leaving them at the mercy of schools. In urban areas, many parents are busy with work, “rice, clothes, rice, money”, so they do not pay attention to cultivating knowledge and skills in raising children.

“Family education is important. Parents need to have knowledge to protect their children, support and help them to solve all problems, thereby reducing the outbreak and anger in children so as not to lead to violence.

On the school side, it is necessary to educate students on ethics, education on life skills, skills to prevent and avoid invasive violence and life-related problems, and educate students on school cultural behavior. Don’t just focus on cramming knowledge, running after achievements and scores.

The education system and the school system need teachers of psychology, social psychology, and school psychology to advise and discuss problems with students, thereby preventing the risk of violence. school strength,” said Mr. Nguyen Trong An.
