Ethiopia: Hundreds of people arrested after attack on Muslims

A local official in Ethiopia On April 29, local authorities arrested hundreds of people following an attack on Muslims in the city of Gondar in the Amhara region of northern Ethiopia.
According to the official, 373 people have been arrested in connection with the “disruption in Gondar”. Local authorities have imposed a ban on the use of guns and other weapons until all suspects are arrested.
The incident happened on April 26 at a cemetery in Gondar, located near a mosque and a Christian church. The area is at the center of a dispute between Muslims and Christians in Ethiopia. A local Muslim group said more than 20 people were killed when “Christian extremists” attacked attendees of a Muslim’s funeral and vandalized the property of Muslim residents.
According to local authorities, violence broke out when the two sides argued over the use of stones to bury the dead.
On April 29, in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, Muslims held a protest against the violence in Gondar.
