Mini robot explores the Moon

Robots named Sora-Q measures 8 cm and weighs only 250 g, made from a special type of aluminum and plastic that can withstand the extreme temperature differences on the Moon.

Toy manufacturer Tomy, Japan Aerospace Research and Development Agency and partners spent 6 years developing this robot.

The robot can transform from spheres to other shapes, with two wheels that can move on fine sand. At the same time, the robot is also equipped with two cameras to take pictures and transmit images back to Earth.

The Japanese Aerospace Research and Development Agency plans to put the robot on the SLIM lunar lander in 2023.
