Simple ways to help you look up your health insurance number
Currently, the Social Insurance Agency is accepting two different paper health insurance cards at the same time, but each card model shows a different health insurance code.
1. Look up the health insurance code of the old card model
The old form of health insurance card according to Decision No. 1313/QD-BHXH is issued from January 1, 2015 to the end of March 31, 2021 (if there is a blank copy of the old model health insurance card, it will be issued until it is used up). According to Article 2 of Decision 1351/QD-BHXH, the health insurance card code according to this form will consist of 15 characters, divided into 4 boxes.

Step 1: Log in to your VssID account.
Step 2: At the Personal Management page, select “Health insurance card“.
Step 3: View the health insurance code.
2. Look up the health insurance number of the new card model
A new form of health insurance card will be issued to health insurance participants starting from April 1, 2021. According to Decision No. 1666/QD-BHXH, the health insurance number of the new card model has only 10 characters remaining as the social insurance number of the insured person.
Thus, if a new card model has been issued, the health insurance number is also the social insurance number. Thanks to that, people can easily find information about health insurance codes through the following ways:

Method 2. Look up online on the Vietnam Social Insurance Portal
Step 1: Visit the following link: https://baohiemxahoi.gov.vn/tracuu/Pages/tra-cuu-ho-gia-dinh.aspx
Step 2: Enter the requested personal information.
Enter full name, province/city according to permanent residence and at least one additional information such as social insurance number, date of birth, ID card/CCCD number.
Step 3: Press Search. The system will return the following results:

Step 1: Log in to the VssID account of your friends and relatives.
Step 2: Choose Search.
Step 3: Select Look up social insurance code.
Step 4: Enter the required information and press Search.
Step 5: Social Security number The main result returned by the system is health insurance number.
