As the first son of striker Nguyen Van Quyet, Van Quan inherited his father’s passion and aptitude for football.

Van Quan, or baby Soc, is a familiar face to Vietnamese football fans. From a young age, I was often brought to the field by my father to watch Vietnamese players practice and compete. It is this that ignited the fire of passion for football in the heart of the 6-year-old boy.

“I am very happy and excited to have been chosen to accompany the players and give the ball to the referee in the opening match of U23 Vietnam at the SEA Games. I am a big fan of Vietnamese players, and I dream of one. One day, I can put on the team shirt like Van Quyet’s father.” – Van Quan shared.

Sharing about having his son follow in his father’s footsteps, Van Quyet confided: “Pursuing a top football career is not as easy as many people think. It is a long journey that requires energy, strength and desire. Van Quan still jokes that he loves football more than his father. I’m so happy for that, and I hope the love is even greater. For a seven-year-old boy, dreams still need to be nurtured over time.

It is not clear whether Van Quan will follow in his father’s footsteps or not, but at the moment, I just want him to be healthy, develop naturally and live according to his passion. As a father, I will orient Van Quan to the best, guide him to become more confident and stronger in the process of growing up.”
