The Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has sent an official dispatch to the Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology/Pasteur; Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control of 63 provinces and cities on the effective use of Moderna vaccine supported by COVAX Facility.
Accordingly, in the official dispatch issued on May 5, the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology asked the Departments of Health and Centers for Disease Control of provinces/cities to direct localities to review subjects from 6 to 5 years old. Under 12 years of age, priority should be given to the use of Moderna vaccine from COVAX Facility’s aid for children in this age group to ensure vaccination safety, while the group of people over 18 years of age has not been promptly mobilized for a booster shot. .

The Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology also suggested that the Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology/Pasteur coordinate with the provinces/cities in the area in charge, proactively coordinating vaccines among localities to ensure effective use of the vaccine.

Under the Expanded Immunization Program, the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has issued a document guiding the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign for children aged 5 – under 12 years old, including instructions on using Moderna vaccine for children. people from 6 – under 12 years old with the injection dose of 0.25 ml.
However, currently, some localities have not used up all the Moderna vaccines that have been allocated from the COVAX Facility’s aid. In order to minimize the risk of wasting Moderna vaccine, the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has proposed and approved by COVAX Facility to use the above Moderna vaccines to immunize children from 6 to under 12 years old.
